Strasbourg and Paris – Final Days

As I write this, we are on board the Eurostar hurtling between Paris and London signalling the end of this particular trip. It’s been fun as we’d not visited Germany or the Czech Republic previously.

Our final couple of days are spent in Strasbourg and Paris, places we have been before. This time in Strasbourg there were no Christmas market crowds to contend with making it much easier to get around the city and see its offerings. I’ll let the pictures do the talking with the highlights being the churches and canals, plus the quaint buildings that have stood through a number of various occupiers and wars.

Paris welcomed us on a chilly Monday afternoon but Tuesday was divine. Clear, cloudless skies meant that walking through the 7th and 2nd arrondissements allowed Paris to shine. An added bonus is a beautiful show by a number of cherry blossom trees along the way. Paris, as you’d expect is landmark after landmark. We have been to this city many times and we always find something that we haven’t seen previously. We will be back again in May and can’t wait to discover more.

Well that’s it for this adventure. The loop of Germany is complete with many (just over 200) kilometres walked through many cities. We have a far better appreciation for the country and its beauty. There is a lot more to see so we may be back again at a letter date.

The Germany Loop

Now for the next trip which will be a driving tour which will loop from London to York, Edinburgh, the Lakes District, Wales and down to Lyme Regis and back to London. It’s been a while since we’ve driven a car as the Germany loop was all completed via rail. Start your engines…
