Our final day of looping down through Cornwall is met with grey skies and light rain placing our planned visits in doubt. We had Tintagel Castle on our radar and then a wander up the west coast but, on arrival at Tintagel we realise that the rain is too patchy to make the walk down to the castle worthwhile. We will come back at another time and try again.

The forecast for the coastline is for building rain so we ditch the planned drive and head inland to Launceston instead. Why not visit a town with the same name as one in Tasmania to see what they have in common. As it turns out, the weather clears briefly, allowing us to walk around the centre of the town and take in the churches and castle.

Now for the long part of the drive, up to the Gloucester Farm Shop then on to Bibury in the Cotswold before heading back to London. We had seen a TV program about the Farm Shops which stock a range of different products from local vendors. It’s well worth the visit as there are items inside that you don’t tend to see in London.

Bibury is the quintessential English country village. Picture perfect, even with the rain, but busy due to all of the tourists, which includes us, descending into it. The wet weather stops us having a good look around, but we plan to be back in the Cotswold area within the next 12 months and hopefully on a finer day.

It’s a shame that the weather has hampered our tour, but you can’t plan for that. We will definitely be back to this area as it very much reminds us of Tasmania. We will look at the Jurassic Coast area as well tough we’ll wait until Spring to see if we can catch a break with the weather.
Until next time, stay safe.
