Camden

Map

From the Hunter Valley we continue to head south and hope that the weather doesn’t follow us. The Hunter Valley treated us to some big storms which, thankfully, we came through unscathed.

Our destination is Camden which is a quaint area about 40 kilometres south-west of Sydney just behind Campbelltown. The position gives us the opportunity for a quick visit into Sydney and to catch up with good friends in Katoomba. Our GPS makes the trip rather interesting though. We ask it to avoid the toll-roads having been told that the costs can skyrocket quickly, so we find ourselves trying to navigate the busy streets in the middle of Parramatta with a 22 foot caravan in tow. The perplexed looks we received from the pedestrians were interesting as I doubt they have seen this sight too often.

We catch the double-decker train from Macarthur to Circular Quay for the morning and take a walk past the Opera House and around the park to Woolloomooloo. I’ve been to Sydney many times but mostly for work so you don’t tend to get the time to sight-see. The park is beautiful and in full spring time bloom.

We head back into the city for lunch and then make our way back to Camden as its way too busy for us.

On Saturday we head up to Katoomba to catch up with Fritz and Jules who are building a holiday home in the township. The house is beautiful and when finished will make a great base for those wanting to explore the area.

We have the opportunity to visit the Three Sisters where I take a few panoramas they take us to Blackheath and the stunning Grand Canyon. We didn’t even realise that this incredible vista existed so its a real treat for us to have a picnic in the park while enjoying the company of our friends and the scenery.
