The first leg of the trip saw us make the drive from Scarborough to Chinchilla. An easy starting leg with time to stop into a few towns along the way.

The camp for the night was at the Chinchilla Weir and is a “Free Camp”. For those who do not know what free camping is, it’s essentially being self contained, so you bring your own accommodation, food, water and power. It costs nothing to stay at the weir but you leave a zero footprint when you have finished.

The weir itself is picturesque with the sunset providing a striking backdrop for the evening. Even the local pelicans kept photo bombing my attempts for a spectacular landscape photo.
