The opportunity arose this morning to visit Lady Bay in Warrnambool, Victoria, to experience the sunrise and watch the local thoroughbred racing stables exercising their horses on the beach and swimming them through the waters. It was interesting seeing the handlers and their charges as the reactions of each horse was very different. Some keen to get in and swim, others not so.
Hats off to these committed people as the air and water temperatures provided a ‘refreshing’ experience. Lady Bay is protected by a sea wall so provides a safe environment for the horses and training staff.

While at Lady Bay we noticed the shoreline and how it changed greatly in a short distance. Beyond the sea wall the ocean swells continually pound the rock formations of the coastline while near by a series of small islands play host to a penguin population and provide natural protection for a sandy beach.
